Nadia Elena Comaneci

The year was 1976 and she was famous in 1976 when she made the first ever perfect 10 on the asymmetric bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. In the following years, she was able to score an additional six perfect 10s which made her the youngest Olympic all-around gold medalist at just fourteen years of age. Nadia Comaneci did not just get international attention, but she also helped put Romania on the map. By achieving a feat that was unattainable she became a legend and promoted gymnastics throughout the world. People's perception of women athletes was changed due to the feat. Her impact was so significant at the Olympics that even the uneven bar contest has two moves named after her toe-on and release, both of which have been classified as high-level degree. Besides Olympics, she showed remarkable results in her participation in the World Championships and European Championships too, making her a living legend in the sport and amongst the most well-known gymnasts that the world can ever be privileged to.
